Obituary of Judith Pflug
Judith A. Pflug passed away on October 12, 2016, at the age of 76.
Born in Passaic, NJ, Judy grew up in the Indian Lake section of Denville, subsequently living in Chester and Morristown before moving to Seasons Glen in Mt. Arlington, NJ in 2002.
She graduated from Morris Hills Regional High School in 1958 and went on to earn her B.A. in Fine Arts from Montclair State College and certification in Special Education from William Paterson State College. She taught for 31 years beginning as an art teacher in Hanover Twp and retiring from West Morris Mendham High School as a special education teacher in 1993.
Judy was predeceased by her parents Edna and Irving Pflug. She is missed by her beloved cat Misty, as well as her caring friends and neighbors, the Seasons Glen Young at Heart group, her cruise companions, Lucky 13 and the Brooks family – Jane & Tom, Carolyn & Joe Bearlepp, Bob & Maureen Brooks, and all of their children – with whom she spent many holidays and vacations.
As an avid golfer and swimmer, Judy gave many youngsters their first experience in a pool. An artist at heart, she shared her creativity through photography, counted cross-stitch, personalized greet cards, hand-made gifts and by painting murals both in her home and in other settings where she often enlisted help from children. For many years, she was a scenic designer at the Black River Playhouse in Chester and volunteered for the Interfaith Council for Homeless Families in Morristown.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 6th at 2 pm at the Seasons Glen Clubhouse, 1 Community Lane, Mt. Arlington, NJ 07856.
In keeping with her love of animals and children, memorial donations may be given in Judy’s name to St. Hubert’s Giralda, PO Box 159, Madison, NJ 07940, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Gift Processing, 4742 N. 24th St, Ste. 400, Phoenix, AZ, 85016 or the Morris County Council of Education Association (MCCEA) Philanthropic Scholarship Fund, Plaza 447, Route 10 East, Ste. 12, Randolph, NJ 07869.
