Marie,
I am deeply saddened to hear this news. My mother emailed me last night to let me know about Stephen's passing. As I think you know, you held a special place in my heart as a young boy. The warmth and comfort you gave to all your students was tremendous. I loved your family's description of Stephen as a "quiet caring gentleman." I kind of remember him as a quiet caring giant given when I interacted with him.
When my father passed away, I was struck with grief but also a strange sense of satisfaction knowing he lived a good and happy life and that he did so to the fullest. I hope you and your son can come to a similar place of comfort.
