Obituary of Vincent A Marelli, Sr.

Vincent A. Marelli Sr., passed away peacefully on Jan. 25, 2016 at Morristown Medical Center. He was 85. Born in Peapack to Albert Marelli and Margaret Cacchio Marelli, he moved to Mendham in 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed on the USS Bennington during the Korea War from 1950-1954 Vince was a member of I.B.E.W. Local 102 in Parsippany for 38 years before retiring in 1993. He was a longtime active member of St. Joseph Church in Mendham where he served as an usher for over 30 years. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was predeceased by his sister Judith Ann Stackhouse. He is survived by his wife Delores Toomer of Mendham, two sons Vincent A. Jr. of Mendham and Michael (Kathy) of Marshalls Creek, three daughters; Paula Jones (John) Long Valley, Mary Marelli Shimko of Randolph, and Lori Peirano (Steve) of Washington, one brother Albert Marelli, Jr. of Bernardsville, and one sister Joyce Marelli of Chester. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Bailey Funeral Home 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. Funeral Mass Friday 11am at St. Joseph Church, Mendham. Interment Hilltop Cemetery. For those desiring, donations to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in his memory, would be appreciated.
