Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" Haarsgaard

Elizabeth "Betty" Haarsgaard passed away peacefully on Dec. 23, 2014 at Holly Manor in Mendham. She was 70. Born in Rockeville Centre, New York she lived in Springfield NJ before moving to Mendham 31 years ago. Betty was a 1966 graduate of Cabrinni College in Radnor, PA She was an Elementary School Teacher at Hilltop School in Mendham for 10 years before retiring in 2007. She also taught at St. Joseph School in Mendham for 5 years. Her family will remember her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin. She touched many lives as a teacher and she will be dearly missed by her family. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Robert E. Haarsgaard, two sons; Robert A. Haarsgaard (Bridgitt) of Brooklyn Heights, NY, and Peter John Haarsgaard (Blair) of NY, NY, two brothers John Joseph Lucas III and William Edward Lucas, and one sister, Sr. Patricia Anne Lucas of Jamaica, Queens. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Elizabeth Rose, Grace Anna and Jack Lawrence. Visitation will be held on Sunday Dec. 28, 2014 from 2-5pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham. Funeral Mass Monday 10:30am at St. Joseph Church, Mendham.
