Obituary of William Brad Gano

William Brad Gano passed away peacefully on November 17, 2012 at home in Mendham with his family at his side. He was 56 years old. Brad was born in Bethlehem, PA, and was raised in Baltimore, MD. He and his wife Peggy moved to Mendham 21 years ago. Brad and the family also lived in Hilton Head Island, SC. Brad attended the Boys Latin School in Baltimore, where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame and recently received the award for Distinguished Alumnus. Brad graduated from Yale University in 1978 and was Captain of the Yale Lacrosse Team. He received his MBA from the Harvard Business School in 1986. He also served on the Board of Trustees at Boys Latin School, as well as the Willow School in Peapack, NJ. He began his career with Bethlehem Steel in 1978 as a Sales Trainee until he started his MBA. After Business School, he worked in High Yield Bond Sales for several New York firms including Morgan Stanley, Salomon Brothers and Nomura Securities. He also managed a hedge fund, Hilltop Capital Management, which he ran from 2000 until 2008. He then worked as a Senior Financial Consultant at Summit Financial Resources in Parsippany, NJ. Most recently he served as Director of Sales for Credit Agricole CIB in New York. Brad was a member of Roxiticus Golf Club and the Pastime Club both of Mendham, the Wintergreen Club in Windham, NY and Wexford Country Club in Hilton Head, SC. He was a past member of the Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster and the Harvard Club in New York. He was an avid golfer who loved hunting, fishing, skiing, and lacrosse. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle who instilled values, taught humility, and spent the last several months sharing his life’s stories and memories with his family and friends with the hope that the good memories be all that remain as the sorrow and grief give way to love and peace. He is survived by his wife Peggy Wilcock Gano; two daughters Paige and Meredith; one son Billy; his parents William and Jacquelynne Gano of Bethlehem, PA and Hilton Head, SC; one brother, Rhett Gano of Summit, NJ and one sister Jocelyn Stanton of Long Beach, CA. He is also survived by his in laws, Thomas and Violet Wilcock as well as many nieces and nephews.
