Obituary of Keith E Pickel

Keith Evan Pickel passed away on August 9, 2023. He was 61 years old.

Keith was born and raised in Mendham, NJ, moved to Morristown in 1982, and returned to his hometown in 1994 where he has resided ever since.

After graduating from high school, Keith began working for Speedwell Electric Motors in Morristown, which was started by his father in 1949. He later took over the family business and has owned and operated Speedwell Electric Motors ever since. Keith’s motto was “work hard, play harder,” and those were the words he lived by. When he wasn’t in the shop, Keith could be found on his boat with his family in any body of water from the Great Lakes to the Chesapeake Bay, or camping at his favorite spot, Timothy Lake South in the Poconos. Above all else, Keith loved time spent with his loved ones and his family was his greatest joy.

Keith is predeceased by his mother, Lorraine (nee Dittman) Pickel and his brother, Bill Pickel. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Bettina Pickel, sons Daniel (Elizabeth) Pickel and David (Sarah) Pickel, father Charles, sisters Debbie and Barbara, and grandchildren Lukas, Cienna, Logan, Connor, and Olivia.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 12, from 11 AM to 3 PM, followed by a 3 PM funeral service at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham. In lieu of flowers, donations in Keith's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the ASPCA.
