I am so sorry to hear about Keith’s passing!!! He and I was not that close in school but we did share one memory that I cherish very much. When we were in high school I went with the ski club to ski at Vernon Valley. I had not told anyone out of embarrassment that I could not ski. After exiting the rental area and with everyone of my friends having brought their skis…I was all alone on the snow with no were to go. Just then I hear someone say “hey Greg what are you doing?” I told Keith that I could not ski and had no idea what I was doing. Keith said that he would teach me to ski and insisted that I go up the ski lift. He stayed with me for hours teaching me to ski. By the end of the night I was skiing from the top of the mountain. I learned that night that Keith was a kind soul with a huge heart. We never talked much after that and I suspect that Keith had no clue how much his kindness meant meant to me that night. I am now the father of 3 children (one of whom is an outstanding skier). I have shared that story with my children dozens of times over the years and advise them how important it is that even the smallest act of kindness can have a lasting effect. That is my memory of Keith. While we haven’t spoken since high school, I feel as though I have lost a good friend and a man whose kindness I will remember for the rest of my life!! RIP Kieth. You will be missed.

Agree Greg, kind soul and big heart was how I remember Keith since elementary school days. His big brother Bill & I were on the wrestling team, He was a Senior when I was a Freshman. He looked out for me and always was there to boost my confidence. This was a characteristic of the entire Pickel family. Great people. RIP Keith, till we meet again.
