Uncle Pete was the most solidly dependable and helpful person you could ever meet. You could put him up against any problem, and he’d figure out a solution, even for the weirdest problems. When I moved to my new apartment and my dog Calvin couldn’t see out any of the windows, and we had no where to store our DVDs, so Uncle Pete glued those two problems together and built a one-of-a-kind shelving staircase. It’s Calvin’s favorite spot in the apartment, and he and I will be forever grateful.
Uncle Pete was also a constant, solid, steady man, with a much softer heart than he would let on. I remember the two of us being crammed into third row of a car for a trip into the city when I was little, me complaining about my elevator at work when I got older, and all of the fantastic meals he made for every occasion in between.
But most of all to me, he was an indispensable member of the early morning crew, keeping the dawn peaceful and enjoying a quiet sunrise. Until the next sunrise, Uncle Pete.

Uncle Pete was an amazing man! I felt like there was nothing he couldn't do or didn't know how to do. He was so handy and always willing to help. Some of my favorite memories are spending New Year's Eve and day at his house. We would run around like crazy all night and he just smiled. The next morning there was always a delicious breakfast waiting for us prepared by Uncle Pete! I don't think he ever left the kitchen that day because that night there was always a huge feast to kick off the New Year!!! In the more recent past I asked Uncle Pete to help building me some customized shelves to display my Pez collection. I knew it was a weird ask but I thought if there was anyone who could do it, it would be Uncle Pete. Sure enough after I asked him his eyes lit up. For the next 30 minutes he asked me a bunch of questions about what was needed. He said ok hold on I'll be right back. 45 minutes later he returned with a small scale model to make sure he had everything right. We worked out the kinks and he was back to his workshop. To me it seemed like he was in his happy place making them! The shelves turned out amazing and have made my Pez collection come to life. Thanks Uncle Pete for all that you did for me and all the fun memories!

I first met Pete at The University of Miami - way back in 1964 - he was a pledge in the Kappa Sigma Fraternity and I knew, the minute we met, he and I would be close. Even in those days one could tell Pete was a fellow who could fix just about anything - a trait that would serve him greatly in his later life. He was a dear friend who would do anything to lend a hand, offer a shoulder to cry on, and be there when you needed him. Everyone in the Fraternity had some kind of nickname (mine was "hands") - we called Pete "Parrot." He was an usher in my wedding and I was privileged to be an usher when he married the love of his life, Yvonne. We communicated over the years - sharing the events of our lives as we lived them - he was so proud of his boys! Sadly, the last time we spoke was a couple of years ago when we brought each up to date on our goings on. I only learned of Pete´s illness just after the New Year and today, found out he had passed. I regret, very much, not being able to say good bye! Condolences are sincerely given to Yvonne, and family. He was a great guy!

Peter was a great guy all over, that's a gimme. As for me, I have wonderful some wonderful memories. I'll just list a few. He built me these partitions for my strobes case. All my strobes and packs had their special spot, clear from any damage, because of his excellent wood working skills. Even the photographers I worked with were amazed, they wanted the same done to their cases. I kept his phone number a secret.
I always marveled with his house fixing/building skills, there wasn't anything he couldn't build. This so inspired me to get my own set of tools and build this ginormous work bench, an even a more ginormous deck and finish off a basement. I had NO IDEA how to do any of this but watching him DO IT, inspired me to at least try.
He was a guy who genuinely listened and reacted with topical questions or advice in return. A trait more people should learn to do.
Lastly, one of my favorite memories with Pete was on LBI. We found some time after helping Aunt Debbie on one of her many projects to hit a clam bar. We sucked down clams, drank beer and laughed.
I will alway remember and miss you Mr. Peter R. Niederauer...may you RIP.

So many wonderful memories of my brother Pete. He was such a big part of my life since I was 8 years old. Will never forget the trip to the drive-ins in his dad’s giant white convertible, the trips to the NY worlds Fair in 1964/65, our trip to Washington DC in a VW bug with 5 of us and me and Rich just little kids!! But then through the years all of us helping each other and Pete doing the heavy lifting of working on homes and projects. And the many holidays we celebrated with Pete’s fantastic cooking. I’ll never forget that Pete and I and sometimes Sydney were the early morning crew on New Years Day or down the beach while we enjoyed quiet time before the others woke up!! I love you Pete and miss you more than you can ever imagine. We will all remember the good times and hold our memories close till we meet again.
