I will miss Grandpa very much. The last time I talked with him was Veteran's Day. Over the years, he downplayed his military service in World War II, but the truth is that he was in the Battle of Bulge. He stated he just drove trucks, but that was an extremely dangerous task as he had little protection, and American soldiers could do little to protect truck drivers. He always stated that he was just doing his job. I spent much time at his house through the years. He often liked to watch baseball games in person or on television, and even listened to baseball games on the radio. I have found myself listening to baseball games on the radio as a background sound as that sound gave me comfort -- but the comfort was that the sound of the baseball games broadcasted reminded me of Grandpa, so I will continue to listen to the games through the radio. Grandpa was active at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the church where I was baptized. I wish I had told him how active I have been serving at both an Orthodox Church and a Catholic Church. Down here in Texas, there will be a memorial service for him at St. George's Orthodox Church.

My heartfelt condolences to the Pierson Family's on your loss. Mendham has truly lost a great guy and a wonderful soul. I remember him at the Mendham Borough Post Office with my Uncle Jack for so many years. He always had a smile and a kind word for all the people of Mendham and especially the Panella families. Rest In Peace.

I will miss you great Uncle Tim! I always loved coming up to New Jersey when grandma(Barbara) was there because I knew I would get to see you! I always loved listen to your stories! I love you and I’ll never forget you!

Tim is a true Mendham fixture. I've known him my entire life. Always a good friend to the Panella family. Great memories to hold onto. He will be sorely missed.

Tim will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He was loving, loyal, thoughtful, kind, and so very funny! I’ll never forget how he began every conversation “You keeping out of trouble?” with a mischievous glint in his eye and teasing lilt to his voice. For decades, he and Gram would wave goodbye to me from the front door window as I pulled away from the house. He continued the front door wave after she was gone when I came to visit him. That’s a warm and heartbreaking image I keep in my mind’s eye and heart today; Gram and Tim, side by side, waving goodbye to me. Beautifully written obituary, Tyler. My thoughts are with you and your family.
