Obituary of Erik A Swenson

Many of us lost a best friend on September 1st, 2022, when Erik Anders Swenson passed away at his home in Somerville, NJ.  Erik was born in 1965 in Rockville Center, NY, and was raised in Peapack, NJ. From then on, he created truly unforgettable connections with just about anyone he ever met; all were drawn to his sincerity, his kindness and his tremendous ability to put others at ease.

Most knew Erik for his life-long love affair with music (a trait he shared with his siblings), his extensive guitar and record collection, his vast knowledge of all-things dinosaur, his technological wizardry, his skills in the kitchen and with a camera, his ridiculous sense of humor, his knack for finding joy in even the little things, his unwavering loyalty and devotion to his family and friends, his easy affection for us all and his generosity with both time and love.

But those who were closest to him also knew Erik to be the most head-over-heels-in-love partner to his Susan (“Who’s better than us, Babe?”); the greatest gift to his mother, Diane; the beloved 3rd Musketeer to his brother Jon (Phyllis) and sister Jeni (Vin); the devoted uncle who would do anything for Mackenzie, Kendall, Jordan & Alexa; the most sarcastic step-dad to Leila (TJ); the silliest grandpa to Lily and Jace; and the most dedicated companion to his pups, Bailey & Jack.

All of us who were lucky enough to share our lives with Erik will forever miss his mischievous smile, his all-encompassing hugs, his powerful empathy, how unbelievably goofy he could be, how important family was to him and how incredibly deeply he loved us all.

Please come share your memories of Erik at Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main Street, Peapack, NJ, on Friday, September 9, 2022, from 4- 8pm with a special remembrance at 6pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and World Central Kitchen.
