Obituary of John Grieco

John Grieco passed away on Thursday April 21, 2022. He was 58 years old.

Born in Montclair, NJ to parents John Grieco, Sr.  and Ruth (nee Gannon) Grieco,  John attended and graduated from Upsala College (1981 to 1985) and Montclair State (1992 – 1996).  He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Lakes in Verona, NJ in his youth and St. James in Basking Ridge as a married adult.

John found joy in time spent with friends, family, and community.  He was an active member of the Raritan Valley Road Runners RVRR.  John ran and completed at least 14 Marathons.  He was often in the top 25% of his age bracket.  He cherished his work with the Somerset Regional Animal Shelter in Bridgewater, NJ where he helped animals be matched with their “forever homes.”  He loved to travel with his wife or sit home and listen to the wildbirds sing.  John recently found delight in gardening of brilliantly colored flowers.

Johns career path was in IT (information technology) as a software programmer and project manager.  This path took him to companies such as: Delta Corporate Services, Verizon, NJ Transit, the Girl Scouts International and most recently Brother International.

John is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Susan Joy Grieco and his devoted extended family: Aunt Jean Grieco Hein, Uncle John Hein, brother Ben Grieco, Sister-in-Law Lynn Stouffers-Grieco, Goddaughter Krista Grieco Damiano and her husband Joe Damiano.  His children were furry, feathered ,and numerous with the remaining ones being cat Elliott Thomas Grieco and cat Hermione Grieco.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 28, from 4-8 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main Street, Peapack, NJ 07977.  A Prayer Service will take place in the funeral home at 7:30 PM.
