I met Fred in 1984, when I joined the hospital pharmacy team at Fairfax, VA. He was dedicated to our pharmacy profession and providing safe patient care. At that time we had several discussions about the drug that was harmful to babies and his dedication to prevent ongoing use of that drug. He was a celebrity on our team and over the years when there was a questionable safe practice in caring for patients, I would often think, “What would Fred do?” He moved from this area and we talked infrequently over the years, but his love of family and friends and dedication to his profession was evident. It was time to touch base with Fred and then I discovered I missed my chance. I am so sorry for your lose and as I read the news, it was a joy to see he made his mark on everything he did…..a really special person. Wanda Rogers in Fairfax, VA

Fred’s eldest daughter, Elise, and I are good friends for years. She very often talked about her fantastic father. When I met Fred for the first time, I was filled with the excitement and said to him “you are the famous dad! I know you for years!”.

I had the privilege of working with Fred in Regulatory Affairs at Ferring these past 5+ years, and sat right behind him. As many have pointed out, his sense of humor and camaraderie will be greatly missed. He was always able to add so much to a discussion by being able to examine all sides of an issue. Our last team activity together was the coordination of our team’s annual Salvation Army donation - I will never forget him being willing to act as the shipping/packaging receiver (as evidenced by all of the photos of things taking over the dining room), and driving them over himself. He will be greatly missed.

Fred was a respected colleague of mine at Organon. He was a low key sense of reason in times of great stress
But more importantly Fred was a sweet person who went the extra yard to make sure fellow employees got treated fairly
Quite by accident we found out that he had been a collage room mate of my dear cousin John Sudol
Fred you will be missed
You were a class act
I extend my deepest sympathy to his family

I am deeply saddened at Fred’s passing. He and I were classmates and developed a friendship while we attended Pharmacy school at Northeastern U. There were many times that I struggled and Fred was a patient and brilliant help with my studies. A little more than a year ago, I got to see Fred again at our class reunion in Boston. I send my blessings to his family along with my gratitude; he will always be remembered as a wonderful part of my life and I imagine that many, many others can say the same. RIP friend.

Dear Figa family,
Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I have never had the privilege to meet you, but I feel like I would enjoy the chance given how warmly Fred described you. Fred was a scholar and a gentleman, whose intellect was matched only by the size of his heart. My interactions with Fred are some of the things I treasure most about my time at Ferring Pharmaceuticals—he taught me a great deal about regulatory affairs, about professionalism, and about patience. I enjoyed watching him argue both sides of the same issue—all with a wry smile; I enjoyed watching his thought process play out live. The world is poorer without him in it.

Fred will truly be missed in the legal/pharma community. He was widely regarded as a terrific attorney and wonderful colleague. He was a pleasure to interact with personally and professionally at Eisai. I will always remember the light in his eyes and bright smile when talking about family or a humorous story. - Vince Andrews

My sincerest condolences to the Figa family on Fred's passing. Fred was a wonderful colleague and friend at Eisai. As my husband and I started our own family, Fred would light up whenever he spoke about his children and his wife. He would recount the highs and lows of being a new parent and, as hard as those early days can be, he reminded me to cherish every moment -- and, I knew that he always did. I also loved hearing about OBX property and the various improvements the family was making year after year. He will be greatly missed. This picture was taken in 2010 at one of our company events.
