Aunt Barbara was a vivid and important part of my childhood memories. Visits to New Jersey and Maryland brought us happily together. She was elegance personified. Even as a young person, I was struck by the quiet perfection in her home, cooking, and appearance. Aunt Barbara's gracious smile could invite you in, making you feel comfortable and important. I am so happy I got to visit, talk, and play guitar for her over the years. She represents the end of an era, the last elder. Now we are the elders. I can almost smell the peace of the Chesapeake Bay and the long days of summer. Inside that family horizon, I can hear the lively voices of her husband Frank, her brother Dan's soft touch, her sister Betty's grace, and my father's exuberance. Aunt Barbara will be remembered. She is in a different pasture now, shining with a new light, free from any suffering. A light we can only imagine from where we stand. Light pouring in from everywhere now. You will be remembered Aunt Barbara.

Sweet, sweet Aunt Barbara, You were such an important and treasured part of my childhood. I always felt seen and loved by you. I always admired you and looked up to you...your beauty, your exquisite taste in fashion, your amazing food and incredible home. It wasn't a holiday if we couldn't be with the fabulous Olandesi family! Thank you for the wonderful memories. I love you. You will be very missed, but never, ever forgotten.
