Obituary of Richard J. Pluta, Sr.

Richard Joseph Pluta, Sr. passed away in Florida on August 5, 2020. He was 80 years old.

Born in Linden, NJ,  to parents Stanley and Regina (nee Eska) Pluta.  He attended and graduated from Rutgers University  with a degree in Engineering

Richard enjoyed sailing, was an avid reader, played the banjo and enjoyed classical music.  He especially  loved traveling and visited China, Australia and many countries around the world.  His favorite trip was an African safari where he was able to use his photography skills to capture the beautiful animals and scenery. Richard and his wife, Pat, lived in the Bahamas, Paris, France, and most recently in Cape Coral, Florida, and Bedminster, New Jersey.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Patricia Ann Mistove. He is also survived by his brothers Thomas and Edward and his sister, Madelyn Borst, son Richard, a daughter Lisa, and a daughter Christine. His grandchildren are Ethan, Christian, Caleb and Rowan.  In addition he has step-sons Kenneth and Michael Mistove.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, from 4-7 PM at Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St, Peapack NJ. A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, August 18, at 10:30 AM at St. Elizabeth Church, 34 Peapack Rd, Far Hills, NJ 07931. Richard will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, 145 Mt. Airy Road,  Basking Ridge NJ 07920.  A repast will follow at the Old Mill Inn, 225 US 202, Basking Ridge, NJ 07921.  Donations in Richard’s memory can be made to the American Cancer society www.cancer.org.
