Dick was a good friend, and best man at our wedding in Venice Italy, June 6-7, 2002. We traveled portions of Europe with Pat and Dick, visited their Paris apartment numerous times, and their homes in New Jersey, and in Florida. Everywhere we traveled, Dick had researched the region, the culture, the history, the cuisine, the people, the customs...and would download his findings during our drives or walks to each destination. He was a fount of knowledge, and the greatest tourist guide we've ever known.
We had a wonderful relationship over several decades, and always looked forward to our times together, most notably our New Year celebrations, in different parts of Europe and the US. The memories are too many to recount, but through his introductions to the world he knew and loved, we bear witness to the idea expressed by poet John Keats: "A thing of beauty is a joy forever."
Dick was one for a great toast or quip, had a keen sense of humor, and of what really matters, like an abiding faith that would lift his spirits, or bring him to tears of gratitude, as we visited Holy Sites, and many notable places of worship, with the knowledge that those who had gone before us, had served their creator with joy, grace, and conviction, and lighted the path for us to follow.
We will always cherish Richard for the footprint he left on our hearts, and the celebration of life we experienced in knowing him.
Sincerely,
Gary and Deb Tedder

Our family was fortunate enough to cross paths with Dick and his beautiful wife Pat when they needed a boat slip to park his pride and joy sailboat after coming to Cape Coral. As they stayed on it out back of our home we became very close and our kids loved to go out back and enjoy stories Dick would share and the offering of snacks and fun times getting to come in the boat. He always talked about the surprising request of a snack of BROCCOLI from our littlest one Ty at the time and he was only about 6 Years old. LOL We were happy and proud to confider Dick and Pat our kids “surrogate” grandparents. They would both accept our invites and be in the audience to all of our kids dance performances of our daughter Nicolle and our son Cameron’s baseball games and our youngest Ty’s theater musical events! They never missed our kids and our birthdays. They were a great team. Dick was a wonderful Intelligent man who love to share his interesting stories and adventures he had experienced and we enjoyed them over a good glass of Pino Noir. We will miss him greatl! We love you both Bart, Kristy, Nicolle, Cameron and Ty

Dick was a kind, generous and knowledgeable man of the world. He was my boss before he became my father-in-law. He introduced me to his step son Ken. He kept telling me what a great cook “Ken” was. He got Ken to work for the company, and the rest is history. We always enjoyed spending time together with Dick and Pat. Thank you both for showing us around Paris on our Honeymoon. You entertained us in Paris, the Bahamas, and Christmas’s visiting, Bedminster and Cape Coral, and NYC to see the Rockefeller Christmas tree. We did a New Years visit to Washington, DC, and visited the Smithsonian together. We will never forget our sailboat ride up the East River to see the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks by boat. First time Ken experienced Sea Legs! You will always be etched in our hearts. We miss you and we love you more. God Bless. Love, Nancy And Ken Mistove

I am sorry I am unable to travel to attend my father's service. I will always remember him as my adventurous father growing up in Holland, Michigan. He shared his sense of curiosity and his love of water with me. He introduced his kids to music, reading, Prairie Home Companion and so much more. Thank you, dad, for encouraging my interests and fostering my sense of wonder of the natural world. I will always remember you as my dad sitting on Circe, eating potato chips and reading a good book. May peace be with you.
