Obituary of Raymond C Griffith
Raymond C. Griffith passed away at home in Chester on Sept. 19, 2018 at the age of 87.
Born in Glen Ridge he lived in Roseland before moving to Chester 63 years ago.
Ray served in the United States Army in the Korean War from 1952-1953 attaining the rank of Corporal.
He was a Manager at Bell Telephone for 30 years before retiring in 1984. Ray also worked at the Morris County Arboretum for 7 years after his retirement from Bell Telephone.
He was very active in the Chester community over the years serving as Cub Master and Scout Master. He was a longtime member of the Chester 50+ club and a member of the American Legion Post # 342 of Chester. He was also a member of VFW Post # 7333 of Randolph and the Korea War Veterans Assoc.
He was also active in the American Truck Historical Society Metro Jersey Chapter and was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Chester.
He was predeceased by his brother William S. Griffith
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Eileen DeMott Griffith and his three sons: Raymond Griffith of Maine, Theodore Griffith of Boonton and Robert Griffith and his wife JoAnn of Mansfield Twp. He is also survived by his two grand-daughters Melanie and Christine Griffith.
Visitation will be held on Monday Sept. 24, 2018 from 5-8 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd.Mendham. A Memorial Service will be held at the Bailey Funeral Home, Mendham on Saturday, November 17th at 2pm.
