I am seeing this for the first time. I am so saddened by the loss of my former leader. He was a beautiful person and its disheartening to hear of his passing. I am praying that God brings comfort and peace to his family. Jim RIH.

Please accept my deepest condolences for your family’s loss. I’m shocked and deeply saddened by the sudden death of my friend and colleague.
Jim was an amazing leader to me here at Kaplan University. Very easy to talk to, he always asked how my family and kids were doing. He was the type of person that always cared about others before himself. Besides him teaching me so much about the business and how to be a phenomenal leader, he was the type of person that you can open up to and he would listen. We had so many great laughs on and off of work, whether it’s playing basketball with us or just having a drink or 2 after work.
I will deeply miss him.

I have such good memories of working with Jim. Always friendly. Great sense of humor, and long after we parted ways working for different companies, we still kept in touch as our careers changed. He was such a good person. I didn’t know that he had married or had children. Knowing now that he does, I wish peace and that they’ll be surrounded by the best of memories of Jim. This is a loss for so many of us.

I want to extend my most heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of James Roberts. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Jim was my Executive Director of Graduate Admissions at Kaplan University. I credit him for showing me what a servant-leader looks like. He was the most compassionate and focused leader I have ever known. I could not walk pass Jim without him saying, 'hello.' He often told us that we were his customers; and he meant it!
Not only did Jim challenge me as a professional, but he developed me in the process. His same spirit and philosophy was on the leaders in his department. He somehow managed to duplicate himself to his team of managers. To me, that is the measure of a true leader.
It's been over 2 years since Jim left Kaplan and my department still speaks his name. I credit him for showing us the love of a leader in a corporate environment. I will always remember him for that.
May peace and comfort be with you all,
Rhonda Williams

My very sincere condolences to Jim's family and also to his former coworkers who will miss his light.
Jim was not only a kind and caring person but was also a great leader. His style of servant leadership created a very loyal and committed team. Jim was respected because he always gave respect in every situation. He taught me that "Success is doing ordinary things extraordinarily well" --- which is exactly what he always did. Jim, you made everyone else better and you will be missed.

To the family I pray for peace, love and understanding! May the Lord grant you unmeasurable peace! Not sure where to begin. I began in January 2010, with Jim at Kaplan. Though he kept it to himself, he was about to embark upon the journey of Execute Director and later VP of Admissions. I could tell immediately that he was a leader he stood out and eventually he let me know during a break lol- in his defense he tried not too! He was different, he was passionate, humble friendly and always took the time out to make sure everyone was ok. He was such a Servant Leader - always striving to find a way to give back and keep people involved. I was a baby when I started Kaplan in my 20’s he always offered pointers on how to be a great person and leader. He didn’t have to. He even checked in with me from time to time after the move to Plantation office. The world has lost a great life and soul- but his life was fruitful and he left a great name as his legacy! His family should be proud of him because with all that he went through he blessed so many people during those difficult times! Thank you for sharing him with us! Lots of love! ~DeeAnna

Jim was my friend and I will always remember the many lunches and time he spent with me. Jim shared his passion of baseball with me and we spent time discussing great baseball teams of the past like the Brooklyn Dodgers, NY Giants, and the St Louis Browns. I will always remember his kind words, kind gestures, and witty sense of humor. He had a compassion for life and always tried to see the good in our world. Jim, my friend, will be dearly missed.

Offering my condolences to the family. I knew Jim as our Executive Director of Admissions (formerly "Kaplan University"). In fact, I worked directly outside of his office. He always seemed like a quiet, caring sort. Not overbearing with his 'authority,' but yet, 'still in charge.' He had answers, and vision, and was a good leader. It's a pity more can't be like him in that manner.
Hope to the family in this difficult time.
