I came to know Dan, as a teacher and then colleague, as one of those rare, wonderful people who could be counted on to meet every challenge with intelligence and grace. Dan stepped into a tough job, and through his hard work, intellect and unfailing sense of humor, made it a better place. There can be no words, but I was better for knowing him during his time at Purchase, and send my deepest condolences to his family and close friends.
