Obituary of George T Briskie Sr

George T. Briskie Sr. passed away on December 26, 2023. He was 87 years old.

Born in Goshen, NY, to parents Louis and Bernice (Hanley) Brozycki, George lived in Great Meadows and Hackettstown before settling in Gladstone in 1970. He attended and graduated from Hackettstown High School, where he was an active athlete, playing football, basketball, baseball, track, and was even a member of the bowling club.

George was a life member of the Fire Department in Peapack & Gladstone, a machinist for Komline Sanderson for over 43 years, a member of the Somerset Hills Elks Club Post 1983, an asset to his community and a friend to many. He was a man with many hobbies that included but were not limited to snowmobiling, riding his motorcycle, hunting, and modified stock car racing. He loved working in his yard at home and spending time outside.

George is predeceased by his loving wife of 51 years, the late Edna Briskie, his son George T. Briskie, Jr., and his sister Marlene Chandler. He is survived by his daughters Virginia (Mark) Trebilcock of East Stroudsburg, PA, Michelle Hoernlen of Hackettstown, NJ, and daughter-in-law Eugenia Briskie, sister Joan Haines, and grandchildren Mark Jr., Jessica Gardner, Trent Briskie, Madalyn Briskie, and Nicole and Abigal Hoernlen, and 9 great grandchildren.

Visitation will take place on Friday, January 5, from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main Street, Peapack NJ. A service in the funeral home will be held immediately following the visitation at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Peapack & Gladstone Fire Department, PO BOX 615, Gladstone, NJ 07934.
