In 1946, Edward and Evelyn "Dottie" Bailey opened a funeral home that offered a place for families, in Peapack-Gladstone and surrounding areas, to come together and share the memories of their loved ones. As a family owned business, families received the service they needed every step of the way - a family helping a family in a time of needed support.

In 1964, Edward Bailey and his son, J. Leonard Bailey, opened a second location at  8 Hilltop Road in Mendham.  In 1973, when his parents expressed a desire to retire, Leonard and his wife, Brigid, purchased both locations.

Leonard and Brigid chose Tom and Kathleen Day to continue the business that they were so instrumental in developing.  Tom and Kathleen took over both locations of Bailey Funeral Home in December, 2002.  Today, the Baileys are proud to recognize that they made the right decision as Tom and Kathleen continue to provide the promise of excellent service and a caring staff. Serving the towns of Mendham and Peapack-Gladstone and surrounding communities, Bailey Funeral Home continues to set the standard as a funeral home that goes above and beyond service.

Tom Day serves as the 2015 Vice President of the Morris County Funeral Directors Association and is a proud member of The New Jersey State Funeral Director's Association where he serves on the Board of Directors.  He has also been appointed to the New Jersey State Board of Mortuary Science which is the regulatory board for funeral directors and funeral homes in the state of New Jersey.  In addition he has also been appointed to the Board of Directors of the New Jersey Funeral Service Education Corporation which is instrumental in making continuing education in New Jersey a model for all states to follow and he is a proud member of the National Funeral Directors Association.
