Obituary of Philip J. Kane

Philip J. Kane, Esq., Attorney 86 Philip J. Kane, 86, of Andover, formerly of Chester, passed away Saturday evening, January 17, 2009. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St., Peapck, NJ, 07977, 908-234-0590. A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1pm in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Chester. For more info go to www.baileyfuneralhomes.com. Mr. Kane was a graduate of Fordham University and St. John's Law School. He was a pioneer in the shopping center development industry, having been recognized by the ICSC and featured in Chain Store Age Magazine. He retired as Director of Real Estate for Super Markets General Corporation. He was a strident believer in civic and social responsibility. He served in Europe during World War II. He was a past President of the Planning Board in Richmond County, New York and lent his time and effort to promote civil rights. Mr. Kane lived in Massachusetts as a child, but spent many years in Staten Island, New York. He and his wife were residents of Chester, New Jersey for over 30 years , most recently moving to their "Cottage at the Lake" in Andover, NJ to be nearer to family. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Anita McCormack Kane, his four children, Nancy Rand and her husband Laurence of New Paltz, New York, Barbara Nilsen and her husband Stanley of Miller Place, New York, Joanne Offerman and her husband Mark of Andover, New Jersey and Stephen J. Kane and his wife Terri of Monroe Township, New Jersey. He will be missed terribly by his eight grandsons and five granddaughters, his grandchildren-in-law and his five beloved great grandchildren. Donations in his honor may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
