Obituary of Sister Andrea (Helen) Weidner

Sister Andrea Weidner, SCC entered eternal life, following a long illness on October 28, 2017 at Mallinckrodt Convent, Mendham, NJ.  Sister was 84 Years old.

Sister Andrea (Helen) Weidner was born in New York, NY on May 27, 1933.  Her parents were Andrew and Sophie (Skiber) Weidner.  She entered the community of the Sisters of Christian Charity on September 2, 1951 and pronounced Perpetual Vows on August 20, 1960.

Throughout the course of her life Sister Andrea was engaged in the field of Catholic education serving both as an elementary and secondary teacher in many schools in New Jersey and Pennsylvania including Elizabeth, Denville, Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre, Williamsport and Reading.  For a time she also served the community as assistant Archivist and German translator.  She spent her final years at the Motherhouse assisting in various capacities.

Sister Andrea is survived by her sister, Eleanor Flack of Boca Raton, Florida, her nieces, Andrea Doyle, Doretha Hahn, Jennifer Fascetti and her nephew Robert Flack, as well as cousins and many devoted students who have remained in contact with her over the years.  Her parents preceded her in death.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mallinckrodt Convent, 350 Bernardsville Road, Mendham, NJ on Friday, November 3rd at 11am.

The viewing will take place in the convent Chapel on Thursday, November 2nd from 2-8pm with an evening prayer service at 7pm. 

Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mallinckrodt Convent, Mendham, NJ following the Liturgy.
