Obituary of Landa Martin

Mrs. Landa J. Martin nee: Graziano died Monday October 12, 2009 at her home. She was 35. Landa was born in Manhasset, NY, and was raised in Staten Island. After her marriage in 1997, she moved to Hoboken and has lived in Morristown since 2001. She attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA and graduated from Wagner College Suma Cum-Laude with her Masters in Education. She worked as an Elementary School Teacher for the NYC Public School System, and later substituted at Assumption School in Morristown. She was a communicant at Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Morristown. She was a member of the Academic Honor Society, and she was instrumental in fund raising for Assumption School, serving on the Committee. Landa raised over $ 75,000 for the Melanoma Research Foundation Walkathon, and was awarded a grant in her name to Moffitt Cancer & Research Institute in Tampa, FL for Targeted Therapy for Melanoma. She also raised over $85,000 in the 1st Annual Fighting Melanoma with Style. This was inspired by Landa, and benefits her doctor (Anna Pavlick) and her melanoma research at NYU Clinical Cancer Center and will be held annually. She is survived by her husband Christopher, 3 children Isabella, Sophia, and Christopher Jr., her parents John and Kathy Graziano, her grandma "Penny" Yolanda Graziano, her brother Thomas Graziano and his wife Danielle, and 2 nephews TJ and Luca.. Services will be Friday 8:30 AM at the Bailey Funeral Home 8 Hilltop Rd., Mendham, followed by a 10:00 AM Funeral Mass at Assumption RC Church in Morristown. Interment will follow at New Vernon Cemetery, New Vernon. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 and 7-9 at the Funeral Home.
