Obituary of Daniel J Verdirame
Daniel J. Verdirame of Gladstone, New Jersey, died on October 6 at the age of 70. He was born on December 23, 1945 to Bart Neal and Frances Verdirame in New York City. Dan was the devoted husband of Susan Head to whom he was married for 25 years. He is survived by Susan, sisters-in-law Nancy Carroll and Jo-Anne Head, and his nieces and nephews, Jack and Ryan Carroll and George, Joseph, and Victoria Whitfield.
Dan was famous for his wicked sense of humor and his unselfish nature. He loved to tell stories and was an enthusiastic traveller to New York City, France, Bermuda, and Key West. He was also generous with his time, composing speeches, poems, resumes, and retirement announcements for friends and relatives. He was an avid boater.
Dan, an Air Force veteran who served in Pakistan, had a long and illustrious career in the financial and pharmaceutical industries. Dan received both his BBA and MBA from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University in New York. Dan also counseled dozens of cancer patients who were diagnosed with late stage colorectal cancer through the Cancer Hope Network, a patient-to-patient cancer support group. Donations in his memory should be made to the Trinitas Medical Center Foundation.
Dan fought cancer for 21 years. He did so courageously, not giving an inch to the debilitating effects of the disease and not once complaining, despite frequent bouts of pain. A true warrior to his last breath, Dan Verdirame will be sorely missed.
