Mr. Bergman was the father of classmates and good friends to me and my brothers and sisters growing up in Mendham in the 50s and 60s. I remember him most as the coach of the Pastime Little League team that many of us played on under his mentorship. We were very good as a team, largely due to his leadership. There were two Little League teams at the time, Pastime and the Lions, but everyone wanted to play for Mr. Bergman. He was an icon for wonderful childhood memories and good times, as well as instilling the need for practice, teamwork, concentration and having fun. My condolences to Mrs. Bergman, "Billy", my good friend and classmate Bruce, Jane, and the rest of the family. He was a good man and part of making Mendham a great place to live and grow up.
