Obituary of Ann Hill

Ann Hill passed away peacefully on June 4, 2016 at Morristown Medical Center in Morristown. She was 77. Born in Detroit, MI and raised in Algonac MI she moved to NJ in 1965 and settled in Gladstone. She was a 1961 graduate of Michigan State University. After college she spent 4 years in the Peace Corps in Jamaica. She worked as a Physical Education teacher in Mountain Lakes and Mendham before becoming an employee of the Gladstone Post Office. Ann coached recreational softball, soccer and swimming. She was an avid walker, as you would often see her walking her dogs in the snow and/or rain. Over the years she played tennis and golf with her neighborhood friends. She enjoyed attending the US Open for both golf and tennis. Ann enjoyed the challenge of getting things done on her own and loved sitting on her back porch catching sunrays. She was often completing puzzles in the sunroom, reading books, or taking a dip in the pool. Ann had a passion for college sports and was a ticket holder for the women’s Rutgers basketball team. She was predeceased by her husband Robert F. Hill. Ann is survived by her two children; David Hill and wife Carolina of Gladstone and Sharon Pyburn and husband Todd of Frisco, TX. Two sisters, Clara Louise Augustine of Tallahassee, FL and Ellen Kohls of Poway, CA, also survive her. She had one granddaughter Grace and a goddaughter, Emily Hausmann. The Family will receive friends at Ann’s home, 9 Apgar Ave. Gladstone on Saturday June 25, 2016 from 2-4pm. Cremation will be private. For those desiring donations, the family would like them to go to The Peapack-Gladstone First Aid Squad, Peapack-Gladstone Fire Department or a local animal shelter would be appreciated. Arrangements by the Bailey Funeral Home of Peapack.
