My dear Father was a fun loving man with a gental soul. He raised his children with love, strong values and the understanding of respect. He lead by exsample. Always putting others first before himself. Always a kind word. His strong faith brought him much happiness. He truly was a shining light. I am so blessed to have had him as my Father. Dear Valerie,
Some years ago, Pierre and I were siting next to each other at a Step meeting that was on the 12th Step. Just before the very end of the Step is a sentence that reads: "True ambition is the deep desire to live usefully and walk humbly under the grace of God".
Pierre turned to me. He said he hoped the same would be said about him at the time of his death. He also said that would be enough. I marked that moment in my memory for my sake as a true expression of charity and love for others, as well as for his family's sake: this was Pierre as a sober member of AA.
I knew your dear husband to be a genuinely humble, compassionate man. How kind he was to anyone in need. Though he could not remember our names and faces towards the end, his humility, love, and spirituality were always who he was. I will miss him as will so many. But, I won't be sad. Pierre will be with his Lord.
Valerie, my deep condolences to you and your family.
With Love, Karen Shepherd
