Obituary of Emily J Cyrier

Emily J. Cyrier passed away peacefully on December 23, 2015. She was 83. Born in Ironia, NJ to Theodore and Ruth Miller, she was a lifelong resident. Emily received her BA and MA degrees from Newark State Teachers College and began her career at the Cobblestone School in East Hanover. She then went on to teach in Silver Springs, MD, the Washington Township Middle Valley School, Randolph Township Schools and the Kennedy Elementary School in Roxbury Township as a kindergarten teacher. She was a member of the NJEA, Morris County Retired Teachers Association, and a founding member of St. Matthew the Apostle Church in Randolph. She was co-owner of Miller's Hill Farm in Randolph, founded by her parents in 1924. Emily was instrumental in ensuring that Miller's Hill Farm be accepted into the New Jersey Farmland Preservation Program. Her family will remember her as a devoted, patient and loving wife, mother and grandmother who was a devout Catholic and an avid quilter. Emily was predeceased by her husband Leonard and her brother Theodore. She is survived by her children; Theodore Cyrier of Randolph, NJ and Emily Cyrier of Annandale, NJ, sister Ruth Miller Dorney of Randolph, her grandchildren Justin & Emily Cyrier and Jan & Sofie Hagadorn and nieces Natalie Miller Cline, Christa Miller Pico, Roberta Miller Oglesby and Ruth Miller McAndrew. Visitation will be Sunday January 3, 2016 from 1-5pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham, NJ. Funeral Mass will be Monday January 4 at 10am at St. Matthew the Apostle Church, Randolph, NJ. Interment at Hilltop Cemetery, Mendham. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Randolph Rescue Squad or Friends of Randolph Animal Pound would be appreciated.
