Obituary of Patricia E. O'Brien

Patricia "Pat" O'Brien, of Mendham, passed away peacefully at 88 years old on December 14, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Queens, NY in 1927, Patricia later lived in Clifton Park, NY before moving to Mendham nearly forty years ago, where she and her late husband John built a life together with their nine children. Above all, she loved spending time with her three daughters and six sons, her thirty-two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Mrs. O'Brien was a homemaker and worked as a real estate agent for Burgdorff Realtors in Mendham for twenty years before retiring. She was a committed and passionate member of St. Joseph Church in Mendham where she lead the recitation of the rosary, served on the environmental committee, and prepared the Altar Linens. In addition, she was actively involved in the local community, whether serving as an election worker, volunteering at the Mendham Township Library or serving on the Mendham Township Board of Education. Her family will remember her as a loving wife, mother and grandmother and great-grandmother. Pat loved hosting her family and friends at her home, gardening, cooking and traveling with her husband. Patricia was predeceased by her husband John and her brothers Thomas and Robert McGinley. She is survived by her nine children--Mary Ellen O'Brien, Patrick, John, Eileen O'Brien Davis, Mary Beth O'Brien Stow, Terrence, Timothy, Christopher and Michael. She is also survived by her thirty-two grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Sunday December 20, 2015 from 2-6 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd, Mendham. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday December 21st at 10:30 am at St. Joseph's Church, Mendham. Interment Hilltop Cemetery, Mendham.
