Obituary of Ingrid Margrethe Ramsey

Ingrid Margrethe Ramsey passed away suddenly on October 14, 2015 at 74 years of age. Born in Hallabrottet, Sweden, Ingrid was fluent in four languages. Ingrid moved to the United States in 1964 while working as a flight attendant for Pan Am Airlines. In 1965, she met Clive Ramsey while both were visiting Rome, Italy. They married a year later and settled in St. Catharines, Canada before moving to Pottersville, NJ in 1970. In 1978, Ingrid and Clive moved to Bernardsville, NJ where they raised their family and resided for the past 37 years. Ingrid loved this country and was a proud U.S. citizen. Ingrid was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her love and dedication to her family were immeasurable. Ingrid and Clive spent 50 wonderful years together. Ingrid supported and advised her husband, the love of her life, as he built a multinational business. She took great pride in her three children, Louise, Patrick and Peter, and was actively involved in their academics and sports through their formative years. Ingrid was blessed with nine grandchildren and was an integral part of their lives. Ingrid lived an active life and had many interests. As a longstanding member of both Somerset Hills Country Club and the Essex Hunt Club, Ingrid competed for many years on the tennis and paddle teams. Ingrid had a green thumb like no other, cultivating magnificent gardens that grew more beautiful every year. She loved the ocean and spent many vacations at the beach. Some of her favorite places were the southern coast of Sweden, the Algarve in Portugal, Hilton Head Island in South Carolina and the Caribbean Islands. Ingrid is survived by her husband Clive Ramsey of Bernardsville; her daughter Louise Thomas and husband J.T. of Bernardsville and their children Scott, Annie, and Kate; her son Patrick Ramsey and wife Kristen of Summit and their children Nicholas, Caroline and Julia; and her son Peter Ramsey and wife Melissa of Summit and their children Lily, Emma, and Charlie. A private funeral service will be held at St. Bernard’s Episcopal Church. The family will receive friends for a celebration of Ingrid's life on Sunday, October 18, 2015, between 3pm and 6pm at the Essex Hunt Club in Peapack, NJ.
