Obituary of Alice Ann Placzek

Alice Ann Berryhill-Placzek, 79, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2015 after a long illness. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she loved to travel and made friends wherever she went. Born in Peoria, Illinois, Alice Ann had lived in Cary, IL before moving to Mendham in 1971. She was a long-time volunteer at Morristown Memorial Hospital and served as Financial Secretary of the Mendham United Methodist Church for many years. She also volunteered at the Community Soup Kitchen of Morristown through Mendham Interchurch and was a lifelong member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Illinois. She is survived by her husband Stanley Placzek of Mendham and her three children -- Stephen Berryhill of Haddon Heights; Valerie Berryhill Taylor of Philadelphia; and Bruce Berryhill of Simpsonville, SC; and also by her four grandchildren -- Andrew Taylor, Melissa Carpenter, and Ryan and Kylie Berryhill. Alice Ann's first husband, Robert L. Berryhill, died in 1981. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. on Thursday October 1, 2015 at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham, followed by a prayer service at 10 a.m. Friday, also at the funeral home.
