Obituary of Sister Pietra (Margaret) Cash SCC

Sr. Pietra Cash, SCC Sister Pietra Cash, (Margaret), Sister of Christian Charity, entered eternal life, following a long illness on March 10th, 2015 at Mallinckrodt Convent, Mendham, NJ. Sister was 84 years old. Born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, on May 19, 1930, Sister was the daughter of Peter and Mary (Sullivan) Cash. She entered the community of the Sisters of Christian Charity on September 5, 1948. Sister made final vows on August 20, 1957. Throughout the course of her life Sister Pietra was engaged in the field of Catholic education serving as both an elementary teacher and principal in schools in Florida, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. She also served in positions of community administration as provincial councilor, director of aspirancy and tertianship, house coordinator, and hospitality service in Quellen Retreat Center. Sister Pietra is survived by her brother, Daniel of Sherman Oaks, California and several nieces and nephews in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Her parents and her sisters, Cathleen and Mary, and brothers Peter and Thomas, preceded her in death. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Mallinckrodt Convent, 350 Bernardsville Road, Mendham, NJ on Saturday, March 14th at 11am. Viewing will take place at the Convent on Friday, March 13th from 3-8pm with Wake Service of Evening Prayer at 7pm. Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mallinckrodt Convent, Mendham, NJ following the Liturgy.
