Obituary of Margaret "Peggy" A Martone

Margaret Ann Martone, known to all as Peggy, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones, after a brief illness, on Saturday, February 21, 2015, at Morristown Medical Center. Peggy was born October 15, 1945, in Buffalo, New York, to George and Erma Falk, later moving to Whippany, NJ where she grew up. Peggy Graduated from Hanover Park High School and attended Rutgers University College of Nursing, earning a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. After graduating from Rutgers, Peggy worked as a Visiting Nurse in Newark during a tumultuous time in the city’s history, having to navigate through the riots to provide care to her patients. She continued her work as a visiting Nurse with Somerset Hills VNA, until taking time away from her career to raise her 3 children. She was a devoted and loving mother. She was adored by her family and all who met her. After raising her children, Peggy went back to school to earn a Master’s Degree from East Stroudsburg University in Health Education, graduating with high honors. Peggy became a Nationally Certified School Nurse and worked as a School Nurse for almost 20 years with the Manville School District. During this time she was named NJ School Nurse of the Year in 2000. She loved school nursing and was active in the NJ School Nursing Association, serving as the President of the Somerset County Chapter. Peggy was an avid outdoors-woman and loved spending time outside, hiking countless trails and going on camping trips with her family to the Adirondack Mountains, a spot that she particularly loved. Camping, hiking, kayaking, and ballroom dancing were some of her favorite activities. Peggy loved spending time with her family and friends. She was also an active member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Chester, NJ. She was a remarkable, caring, loving, selfless human being who put all others above herself. She will be missed greatly. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Paul Falk. Peggy is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years Donald, three children, Susan Repmann and her husband Craig, David Martone and his wife Helen, and Sarah Martone and her partner Michael Berenbak, along with three cherished grandchildren, Darcy, Jake, and Noah. She is also survived by her Sister Elaine Gruber and her husband Arthur, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3-5 & 7-9pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St. Peapack. Memorial Mass Wednesday 10:30am at St. Lawrence Church, Chester.
