Obituary of Joan Neff

Joan H. Neff died peacefully on Feb 17, 2015 at Holly Manor Nursing Home in Mendham. She was 86. Born in Schenectady, NY, she lived in Pittsfield, MA and Wilton, CT before moving to Schooley's Mountain and subsequently Hackettstown 25 years ago. Mrs. Neff was an Office Manager and Dental Assistant for Dr. Daniel Weller in Chester for nearly 20 years before retiring in 1990. She also worked in the billing department at Hackettstown Community Hospital for 10 years. Her family will remember her as a loving wife and an adoring mother and grandmother. Yet, as much as she loved her family and friends, that paled in comparison to her love for her savior and Lord Jesus Christ in whose glorious presence she is very happily residing. She is survived by her husband Loren Neff of Hackettstown, two sons David Neff of Vero Beach, FL (Beth) and Daniel Neff of Hackettstown, and one daughter Janet Pontecorvo of Morristown (Dr. Martin Pontecorvo). She is also survived by her granddaughter Lauren Neff and her step-grandchildren Kelly and Dana Pontecorvo. Joan's compassion for people and things was paramount. She had a vibrant love of life which included everything from house plants, cats, birds and squirrels, to the black bears that ate her bird seed. Those things aside, and much more importantly, she loved other people as Jesus would have us all love others. A Praise and Worship Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, march 7th at 11a.m. at the Valley View Chapel in Long Valley.
