Obituary of Mary Jane Burdette
Mary Jane Burdette passed away peacefully on Jan 8, 2015 at Virtua Hospital in Voorhees, NJ. She was 79.
Born in Johnstown, PA she lived in Chester, NJ for 39 years.
Mrs. Burdette was a graduate of California Teachers College in California, PA.
She taught mathematics at Lower Merion High School early in her career and from 1986 until 2010 she was an aide in the library at Black River Middle School in Chester.
She was active in the Community Presbyterian Church of Chester and served as a Deacon.
She was an avid bridge player and a member of several bridge clubs for the last 30 years.
She was predeceased by her husband James Roy Burdette, Sr. and her sister Barbara Gordon.
She is survived by one son James Roy Burdette, Jr. (Crystal) of Glen Allen, VA; three daughters Jane Hackney (Allan) of New Canaan, CT, Carol Miskovich (Thomas) of Andover, NJ and Gail Levin (Brett) of Medford, NJ; two brothers Milton Krause, Jr. of PA and William Krause of NH; and two sisters Sarah Focke of PA and Suellen Holcroft of NJ. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christine, Thomas, Kevin, Megan, Ryan, Kaitlyn, Christopher, Taylor, Brandon, Aidan, Alyssa and Miles.
Visitation and interment will be private. A memorial service will be held at the Community Presbyterian Church of Chester on Main St. in Chester on Tuesday Jan. 13th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Community Presbyterian Church of Chester or the Alzheimer's Association, in her memory, would be appreciated. Arrangements by the Bailey Funeral Home of Mendham.
