Obituary of Muriel S. Hohmann
Basking Ridge – Muriel S. Hohmann passed away at Fellowship Village on Saturday, November 22, 2014 after a short illness. She was 95.
Born to the late John and Susan (Simon) Goegel in Queens NY on February 7, 1919, she was a resident of Peapack Gladstone Borough from 1949, until moving to Basking Ridge in 1996.
Muriel was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Brigid R. C. Church for many years, and attended St. James Church in Basking Ridge. She was a lifetime volunteer driver for the Cancer Society; past president of the Happy Rockers Seniors Group of Peapack-Gladstone; past president of the League of Women Voters; a member of the Joachim and Anne Society or St. James; a member of the Foot-Light Guild of Gladstone; and had a minor part in the movie “The Miracle Worker.”
She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph of Moylan PA, and Peter of Woodbridge Va; two daughters, Kathleen Jagels of Cooperstown NY, and Susan Seelig of Rehoboth Beach, DE.
Visitation will be private at the request of the family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 10:00 AM at St. Brigid R. C. Church, 129 Main Street, Peapack, NJ 07977. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on Mt. Airy Road in Bernardsville immediately following Mass.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory are requested by the family to the Liberty Corner First Aid Squad PO Box 57, Liberty Corner, NJ 07938; or to St. Brigid’s Church in Peapack, or to St. James R. C. Church in Basking Ridge.
