Obituary of Archangelo "Arky" Bianco, Sr.

Archangelo "Arky" Joseph Bianco, Sr., born on July 6, 1919 in Morristown, NJ passed away peacefully at Morristown Medical Center, Friday, November 14, 2014 after a brief illness. He attended Morristown public schools and Trenton School of Metallurgy. He was a WWII volunteer in the Army Combat Engineers 469th Division. He saw action in Normandy, Omaha Beach and the Battle of the Bulge. He was wounded and received 5 battle stars. He was the last living member of the DAV George Washington Post #42 in Morristown, NJ where he served as Commander. After his military service, he became a deputy sheriff under Arnold Ladd for many years in Morris County, NJ. As a concert mandolinist, he performed in four mandolin orchestras in NY and NJ as well as performed throughout Europe. To name a few venues: PNC Art Center, The Grand Old Opry, BBC, Carnegie Hall and played under Toscanini and started performing at 8 years old. He started as a bass player and was an accomplished percussionist, as well as banjo, accordion, guitar and organ. He was fluent in many languages as well as being an accomplished sculptor and had patented several of his inventions. His ornamental iron work still stands in places such as Rod's Madison Hotel, what was the Madison library, the Morris County Junior Museum and in many mansions throughout NJ. From 1947-1963, he owned and operated Speedwell Ironworks, Morristown, NJ. From 1977 to present he owned and operated Best Car Wash, Rockaway Twp., NJ. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Celeste (Fornaro) Bianco, 4 children: Philomena Bianco Simonelli, Michael Bianco and his wife Marlene Zboray, Anna Bianco (Anthony) Ciccarelli, and Archangelo J. Bianco, Jr., 2 grandchildren; Cassandra (Joseph) Caruso and Matthew (Erin) Simonelli; one great grandchild Angelina Celeste Caruso and one nephew Michaele Esposito. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22nd from 9-11am followed by a Funeral Service 11am at Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Road, Mendham.
