Obituary of Carol K Carpenter
Carol K. Carpenter passed away peacefully on Oct. 23, 2014 at home in Peapack. She was 85.
Born in Glen Ridge, NJ to William Stewart Kirkpatrick and Helen Schilling, she lived in Glen Ridge, Montclair and North Caldwell before moving to Peapack in 1989.
She graduated from Endicott College in Beverly Mass.
Carol was an Interior Decorator for 55 years before retiring in 2005. She began her career at M&J Sloan in NY, NY and later worked for NJ Bell. She founded the Eagles Nest in 1975 which was located in Fairfield. Carol and her husband Harry purchased the Anson Newton Building in 1981 and moved the Eagles Nest to the lower level of the Anson Newton Clothing Store. The Eagles Nest was known to be a premier gift shop in the area.
She was a former member of the Glen Ridge Congregational Church where she married Harry Carpenter in 1952. She was a longtime member of the Lamington Presbyterian Church.
Carol is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harry Carpenter, one son, Kirk C. Carpenter and his wife Sue of Milford, NJ, and one daughter Carol "Cary" Hughes and her husband Andrew of Tewksbury. She is also survived by her 4 grandchildren Gage, Sydney, Anne and Kate.
A Memorial Service Celebrating her life will be held on Thursday Nov. 6th at 11am at the Lamington Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Matt Davis officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lamington Presbyterian Church, in her memory, would be appreciated.www.baileyfuneral.com
