Obituary of John J Foldy
On October 16th, 2014 John J. Foldy, Jr. passed away peacefully at the age of 92.
Born in Bernardsville on Claremont Road, he grew up on Seney Drive and attended Saint Elizabeth’s School. John Foldy was a graduate of Bernardsville High School in 1939. After graduation, he joined the Bernardsville Fire Department as a young reserve to help replace the members who were called to service during World War II. In 1943, John enlisted in and was a proud member of the US Army Air Corps to serve his country. Upon returning from his service, John married his high school sweetheart, Betty Egan of Liberty Corner, and they settled in Bernards Township.
He was the proud owner of and operator of the fist Dairy Queen in the area, located in Bernardsville, which opened on July 27th, 1952. John will be remembered as a loving resident of Bernardsville, who also contributed to the building of the new Bernardsville Public Library.
He is survived by his daughter Bonnie-Jane Perkins and her husband Harold. He is also survived by his grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4-8pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St. Peapack. Funeral Mass Friday 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Bernardsville. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Basking Ridge.
