Obituary of Jane Micucci Rainis

Jane Micucci Rainis passed away on Steptember 12, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 73. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Staten Island, NY and Randolph, NJ before moving to Mendham, NJ, 40 years ago. She also maintained residences in York Harbor, ME and Palm City, FL. Jane was an accomplished author. She was awarded a B.A., Magna Cum Laude, from the College of St. Elizabeth. She received her doctorate from Drew University in 2012. She served on the Boards of Drew University and the College of St. Elizabeth. She also served on the Board of the Library Foundation of Martin County, FL. She was an active equestrienne and a competetive dressage rider. Jane was an authority on the American author Willa Cather. She presented scholarly papers on Ms. Cather's works in the United States and in Europe. She is survived by her husband Eugene Rainis, two sons; Mark Rainis (Amy) of Palm City, FL and David Rainis (Melissa) of Mendham, NJ, one daughter Ellen Rainis Peters (Rev. Michael) of the Villages, FL, one brother, Nicholas Micucci of Deal, NJ and one sister Mary Beth Micucci Savage of Maywood, NJ. She is also survived by her four cherished grandchildren, Alexandra, Victoria, Molly and Nathaniel Rainis. Visitation will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, September 17 & 18 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. Funeral Liturgy Friday 11am at St. Joseph Church, Mendham. Interment private.
