Obituary of Janet O'Connor

Janet Allison O'Connor (nee Matthews) of Califon, passed away peacefully on Sept. 7, 2014. She was 93. Beloved wife of the late John P. O'Connor; she was predeceased by her twin sister Elizabeth C. Bodine of Plymouth, MA and her brother, Robert A. Matthews, Jr. of Springfield, PA. She is survived by her brother-in-law, James R. Bodine and many nieces and nephews. Janet served in the WAVES during WWII as a code breaker. After the war, she came to Philadelphia and was hired as Secretary to the Athletics Director at University of Pennsylvania. She was later employed by other well-known organizations such as ABC and Bristle Myers. She furthered her administrative career with Egan Machinery of New Jersey until retirement. Janet was an avid parishioner of St. Luke's Catholic Church where she will be missed. Visitation for family and friends to celebrate her life will be held September 12, from 9 -10:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at St. Luke's Church, 265 W. Mill Rd., Long Valley, NJ 07853. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Luke's Church.
