Obituary of Evelyn Constance Cassells
Evelyn Constance Cassells passed away at Morristown Medical Center on Wednesday June 25, 2014 after a brief illness. She was 90.
Evelyn was born in Gladstone on February 7, 1924 to the late Carroll David Stryker and Marion (Hayward) Stryker. She was a lifelong resident. Evelyn was a 1942 graduate of Bernard's High School. She wed Alexander Cassells on August 11, 1945. Evelyn and Alex were blessed with two children during their sixty one years of marriage.
Mrs. Cassells was a secretary/treasurer for C. R. McCollum Inc. in Peapack, an electrical contracting business and General Electric appliance dealer that she and Alex owned for many years.
She was a member of the Gladstone United Methodist Church, was instrumental in the church's Christmas Bazaars, and enjoyed many volunteer activities. Evelyn was also a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed needlepoint, knitting, and crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Alex in 2006, and her brother Robert Stryker.
Survivors include her daughter Barbara and son-in-law Louis Ferrante of Bernardsville, son John Cassells and his wife Judy of Hackettstown, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
