Obituary of Johannes Burchartz

Johannes (Hans) Burchartz, 84, of Long Valley passed away May 27, 2014. Hans and his wife emigrated in 1954 from Duesseldorf, Germany where they were born, were married, and had their first child. Hans worked as a typesetter and retired in 2003. He and his family previously lived in Roselle Park and in Flanders, prior to moving to Long Valley in 1986. He was a lifelong choir singer and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Mendham. He and his wife and one daughter also sang with the Harmonium Choral Society for many years. Hans is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Klara, and two daughters, Dorothee Burchartz of Parsippany, and Ulrike DeBaun of Miami, FL., his brother, Manfred Burchartz, of Stroudsburg, PA, and his sister, Johanna Reilly, of Germany, four grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was pre-deceased by one grandchild, Stani Burchartz, with whom he is now reunited. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 4 from 6 to 9 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 8 Hilltop Rd, Mendham, NJ. The funeral service will be held Thursday, at 10 AM at Grace Lutheran Church, 65 E. Main St (Rte 124) in Mendham.
