Obituary of Gerald J. Molnar
Gerald J. "Jerry" Molnar passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Morristown Medical Center.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Bert and Pearl Hollo Molnar, he resided in Texas, Florida, New Jersey and New York before settling down in Mendham 20 years ago.
A star scholar-athlete, he was inducted into the Central Catholic High School Hall of Fame in Toledo for football. He was a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point where he played all four years on the lacrosse team and earned a BS in engineering. He later earned an MBA from New York University.
Mr. Molnar served in the Army for four years after his graduation from West Point. He went on to serve 23 years in the New Jersey National Guard and the Army Reserves, achieving the rank of Colonel before retiring in 1996.
He was a management consultant for his own firm, GJM Consulting. He also worked as a program management director for Hewlett-Packard, Lucent Technologies, NCR and AT&T.
He was predeceased by his parents; and by his brother, Bert J. Molnar, Jr.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Kate Silveri Molnar; his son, Michael Molnar and daughter-in-law Jennifer; his daughter, Caroline Molnar; twin brother James Molnar and his wife Joan Humes of Minnesota; his sister Elizabeth Toth and her husband Robert of Toledo, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be held at noon on Saturday, May 3rd, at Christ the King Church, 16 Blue Mill Road, New Vernon. Arrangements by the Bailey Funeral Home of Mendham. For more information visit www.baileyfuneral.com.
