Obituary of Frank Mertz

Frank Mertz, 85, of Bridgewater died on Tuesday March 18, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Frank grew up in Harrison, graduated from Queen of Peace High School, and attended Seaton Hall and Rutgers University. He served in the US Navy from 1946-1948 and was stationed in Qingdo, China. He resided in Fanwood for 36 years, and recently Wall Township, and Bridgewater. He was a member of the Iron Workers of Local 11, Bloomfield, NJ for 45 years and he was a longtime member of the Fanwood Volunteer Fire Company, where he served as Chief for 4 years. He is survived by his spouse of 64 years, Joyce (nee Eckstein), four children; Connie Richardson of Basking Ridge, Eileen Tierney & Jack of Warren, NJ, John & Rose of Altus, OK, Andrew& Kelly of Basking Ridge, NJ, eleven grandchildren; Katie, Laurie, Maureen, John, Zachary, Michael, Jason, Olivia, Madeline, Emma and Amanda and four great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Paul. Visitation will be held on Friday March 21, 2014 from 7-9 pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main Street, Peapack.
