Obituary of Walter F Miller

NEWTON- Walter F. Miller passed away at Morristown Memorial Hospital on Friday, October 4, 2013. He was 97. Born in Teaneck, NJ on June 26, 1916 to the late Garfield and Evelyn (Wolfe) Miller, he was a resident of Sparta since 2006. He previously resided in Mendham for 43 years. Mr. Miller was an electrical engineer for Bell Labs in Murray Hill NJ, and was a leading member of the team that developed the first 32 bit microprocessor. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Kathryn Van Ingen, his son Robert (and his wife Mary Oberman) of Brooklyn, his daughter Kathy Lane (and her husband Stuart) of Ruther Glen VA, his son Paul of Downingtown PA, and his daughter Anne Marie Schlomann (and her husband Tommy) of Sparta; four grandchildren, and one great-grandson. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Michael Drury officiating. Those attending should arrive at the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Wednesday. Interment will follow at Hilltop Cemetery immediately after the funeral service.
