Obituary of John E. Kneafsey
John E. Kneafsey died peacefully on Sept. 28, 2013 at the Lyons VA Medical Center. He was 78.
Born in Brooklyn, NY he lived in Bernardsville and Gladstone before moving to Basking Ridge in 2006.
John served in the Army in the U.S. during the Korean Conflict from 1954-1956.
He was a Volunteer Fireman and Volunteer First Aid Squad member in both Bernardsville and Peapack-Gladstone. He was an active longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bernardsville.
He is survived by his wife Susan Grefe Kneafsey of Basking Ridge; six sons; John Kneafsey of Califon, David Kneafsey (Lisa) of VA, Kevin Kneafsey (Karen) of High Bridge, William Plenge of Mt. Pleasant, Matthew Kneafsey of Bernardsville and Christian Kneafsey (Rebecca) of Somerville; two daughters Ann Marie McKay (Scott) of Glen Gradner and Kathryn Plenge of Monmouth Junction, one sister Margaret MacKrell (Thadeus) of Hampton Bay, NY and one brother Msgr. Neil Kneafsey of Richmond Hill, NY. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 7-9pm and Wednesday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main St. Peapack. Funeral Mass Thursday 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Bernardsville. Cremation Somerset Hills Memorial Park.
