Obituary of Marie Mele

Marie C. Mele passed into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, September 12, 2013. She died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the age of 83 after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease. Daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Ciampaglio) Cacchio, Marie was born and raised in Morristown, NJ and moved with her husband to Mendham, where they have lived for the past 58 years. She was a graduate of the College of St. Elizabeth, class of 1951, and was an elementary school teacher in Cedar Knolls for several years prior to fully devoting herself to raising her family. She was a longtime member of St. JosephChurch and served often in many volunteer activities for the church, and St. Joseph School. She was predeceased by her beloved sister Jospehine Cacchio, and is survived by her husband John Mele of Mendham, her daughters Mary Moeri (Kenneth) and Loretta Kelly (Kenneth) of Long Valley; her sons John Mele (Sandra) of Cape Coral, FL, Daniel Mele (Connie) of Pittsfield, MA and Michael Mele of Henderson, NV; and her brother Daniel Cacchio (Carole) of Melbourne, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren James Kelly, Megan Paulson (Shane), Daniel and Elizabeth Moeri and Rosemarie, Sophia and Alexis Mele. A Life Celebration Memorial Service will be held on Saturday Sept. 21, 2013 at 11 AM, at Valley View Chapel, on West Mill Road in Long Valley, NJ. A private interment will take place in St. Joseph Church Cemetery in Mendham. In lieu of flowers and mass cards, donations in Marie's memory to the Association for Retarded Citizens (ARC) of Morris County, P.O. Box123, Morris Plains, NJ, 07950-1234, would be most appreciated.
