Obituary of Wilson King
Wilson King Sr., 82, of Peapack, NJ died Monday, April 6, 2009, at Somerset Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 10 at the Bailey Funeral Home, 176 Main Street, Peapack. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 9 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the same location. Born in Shanghai, China, Wilson attended St. John's University in Shanghai, graduating in 1947. He then joined the family's import-export business - Yuen Dan & Company, emigrating to the USA in 1948 to establish the western office of the company in NYC while pursuing his MBA at NYU. After completing his MBA in 1951, he joined the Accounting Division in the national office of the Boy Scouts of America. When the BSA moved to Dallas, TX in 1979, he joined Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ as the Director of Risk Management. He served in that position until his retirement in 1985. Wilson has been a Peapack, NJ resident since 1973. He was an active Boy Scout volunteer as well as a member and past President of the New Brunswick Rotary Club. The son of the late Patrick King and Chen Zhen Bao of Shanghai, he is survived by his wife of 18 years, Linda; their son Geoffrey W. King of Peapack and Wilson King, Jr of Hampton, NJ, his son from his first marriage to the late L. Joan King; his daughter-in-law, Maryanne King and three grandchildren, Christopher, Sean, and Molly, all of Hampton, NJ; a brother, Teddy King of Hong Kong and a sister Jun Mei King of Shanghai.
