Obituary of William J. Hanley
William J. Hanley, 90 passed away on Saturday March 30, 2013 at Montgomery Hospital in Olney, Maryland. He was born in Newark, NJ, living most of his life in New Jersey. On March 3, 1942 William enlisted into the United States Navy. After basic training and machinist school he was then assigned to the LST-325; He was a motor machinist mate and served in Europe and North Africa. Life aboard the LST-325 is chronicled in the book by David Bronson, “Mosier’s Raiders.” Bill contributed his interviews and stories into the writing of this book.
After his tour of duty, William, and two business partners, started their own business, ABC Plastic Molds. The shop was located in Newark, NJ. He retired from the tool and die trade in 1988.
William is survived by his 4 children, Stephanie Kane and her husband, Mitchell, Michele Hanley Jones and her husband, Bernard, Kevin Hanley and his wife, Lisa and Patrick Hanley and his two grandchildren, Aaron and Eric Kane. William is survived by his wife, Betty Krzak, residing in Lavallette, NJ. He is also survived by members of Betty’s family, who lovingly took care of him, Joyce Liposky and her husband, Gregory; Carol and Charlie Femia and Chris Krzak. Bill was predeceased by his sister, Janet Burlick. He is survived by his nephew, Ron Burlick and his niece, Allison O’Reilly.
He will be greatly missed by his entire family.
